Putting off tasks up to the last minute is what we call procrastination. In other words, tasks are postponed or delayed needlessly. The various causes of procrastination are laziness, the lack of discipline, poor time management skills, stress, lack of motivation, lack of skill, perfectionism and many others.

Most of the time, people procrastinate because they feel too tired physically or emotionally that make them unable to work. Many of us fall also on the trap of putting priorities last due to poor management of the very valuable resource that we call time. Perfectionism is another erroneous thinking and awfully heads to procrastination. That is, you are pressured to do the task flawlessly, without a glitch. In effect, stress comes in and what happens next is you tend to avoid the task at hand.

So what do we do to overcome procrastination?

Make it a routine to do your exercise. Get moving and keep moving. This way you are raising your energy levels and mental precision. Couple your exercise with healthy diet, which is more on raw fruits and vegetables.

Implement self-discipline method to get things done so as to create real progress. Acknowledge your bad habits and then formulate new habits to replace it.

Stay motivated by applying the short-term rewards system. That is after completing a small task; you get a reward for yourself immediately. In effect, you are enthusiastic to return to work again until you finish it completely. That is the trick in working on big things. Work on small things that could grow on big things.

Do not to forget that you are human, so allow yourself to commit mistakes sometimes. And always remember that it is much better that you complete a job today even if imperfect rather than having a perfect job but is delayed indefinitely.
Reduce the amount of stressors in your life. Have more time for play. Allocate your time wisely to enhance your productivity. That is apportioning your time for your family, entertainment, leisure, recreation, exercise, personal hobbies and interest and then your work hours.

I believed on what I have read that the best thing to do to address the problem of procrastination is to let enjoyment drive you instead of your to-do list. So find something that really delights you, work on it and you will be amazed of what you can accomplish in the long run. Bring it on.
